| ACTIVITIES UNDER RAMANATTUKARA KENDRA |
Ramanattukara Kendra of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was formed with effect from 1st February 2001. The Kendra Committee took up the task of establishing a School under CBSE syllabus as its first mission. It could acquire about 3 acre of Land at Chelembra, construct a pucca RCC building on the campus and commence classes from LKG to Std. VI from 11th July 2001. The Pre-primary section was named as Bhavan’s Vidyamandir and the C.B.S.E School section was named as Bhavan’s Vidyashram as suggested by late Sri.S. Ramakrishnanaji the then Executive Secretary & Director General of the Bhavan. |
The Kendra adopted a very scientific method of selection of teachers for the Schools. Applications were invited through state-wide advertisement. The academic marks, the marks obtained in the talent test, marks obtained in the practical test and interview by subject experts were evaluated to make the Rank list. Teachers were appointed from this Rank list. |
Academically, the performance of the School was excellent from the beginning itself. This was the cause to attract more and more parents to seek admission for their children in the School. Considering the limitations of the facilities available, we had to limit the divisions for each class as two, and resultantly, we were compelled to refuse admission to many seekers. The Vidyashram is getting ready to commence its senior secondary section during the academic year 2006-2007. |
Incidental to the starting of School, a Library was essential. So a Library was also started on campus during academic year 2002-2003. This Library is used by the students studying in all the institutions on campus - this is our Bhavan’s Library. |
It is an accepted principle that activities for brain development are highly essential during the Pre-school years of a child. This must be done through various activities suitable to activate the brain power of the child with out stress or strain of conventional method of teaching. In order to carry out this, suitable facilities are necessary. So we constructed the new building in a separate compound for the Pre-primary School, Vidyamandir. This building is specially designed for the joyous learning of tiny tots. Arrangements are being done to make the Vidyamandir an ideal Pre-School. |
Even though Bhavan had so many Schools and Colleges all over India, a College for Teacher Education was lacking. So the Ramanattukara Kendra took up this as its second task. We started our work for this in 2001 itself. But the whole process of establishing the institution was delayed due to the controversies regarding NOC’s for B.Ed colleges in Kerala. Lastly, we got NOC from Govt. of Kerala, Recognition by NCTE to conduct B.Ed course and affiliation from University of Calicut. Hence the establishment of the Bhavan’s Ramakrishnan Institute of Teacher Education (BRITE) at Ramanattukara. We could start the B.Ed course at BRITE from the academic year 2005 - 2006. The classes were started on the 21-10-2005, the Vyasa Jayanthi day. NCTE has granted recognition to the Nursery Teacher Education programme proposed to start in academic year 2006-2007. This is the one and only one institution in Kerala to provide this course which entitles the teacher-students to teach from LKG to Std. II unlike the Pre-school teacher education programme which permits the teacher-students to teach only in the KG classes. The Elementary Teacher Education programme is also expected to start from the academic year 2006-2007. |
Science and technology is fastly advancing. The information Technology will be the leading light of science in the years to come. So we have arranged IT Labs at Vidyashram and BRITE. |
All these institutions are formally inaugurated on 29-10-2005. The Vidyashram and BRITE were inaugurated by our Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri. Oommen Chandi. Vidyamandir was inaugurated by Sri. T.K.Hamsa, M.P. (In his personal absence, Sri. V.K.C. Mammed Koya MLA declared the inauguration for and on behalf of Hamsa) The Library was inaugurated by Sri. K.N.A. Khader, M.L.A.and the IT Labs by Sri. V.K.C.Mammed Koya, M.L.A. Sri. Dhiru S. Mehta, the Executive Secretary & Director General of the Bhavan World-Wide presided over the function. |
The activities of the Kendra are going ahead fast. Kala Mandir, our Wing for Arts and Music is planned to be establish shortly. |
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan stands for the propagation of spiritual and cultural teachings of ancient India along with the modern knowledge in all fields including science and Technology. To fulfill this objective, we are planning to commence a cultural wing for our Kendra - Atma Jyothi - under which many social activities are envisaged to implement gradually. |
